The Lazys and The Motorleague with Revive the Rose, The Maysides and Eleven North
A Livestock Niagara Show
Taps Brewery
Niagara Falls, Ontario
September 8, 2016
Mother nature may have threatened Livestock Niagara’s concert last Thursday, September 8th, but it wasn’t long before the rain passed by and the show went on without much delay. Five bands played outdoors at Taps Brewery on Queen Street in downtown Niagara Falls.
This Livestock Niagara show featured five bands, including Australia’s own, The Lazys, who headlined, and The Motorleague, from Moncton, New Brunswick. Both bands are currently touring Canada together and came to Niagara Falls as part of their tour to play along with three of Niagara’s top bands.
The show started off with Welland rock band Revive the Rose. This band features Andrew Colonico (drums/lead vocals), Peter Antoniou (guitar/vocals) Matt Cookson (guitar/vocals) and Garrett Mullin (bass). I really enjoyed watching these guys. I first saw them back in January opening for Danko Jones in St. Catharines. The band recently released an EP called Potato.
Next up was The Maysides from the Niagara and Hamilton area. These guys were energetic and fun to watch! The band includes singer/guitarist Matt Harris, drummer Mike Lamb, guitarist Kenny Holt and bassist Tyler Vieira. At one point during the show, the band got some drink shots and The Lazys‘ drummer Andy Neilsen joined the band on stage for a toast. Be sure to check out The Maysides‘ new video for their single Loved and Lost.
Third up was Eleven North from Niagara Falls. These guys describe themselves as a mix of alternative, indie rock and folk. The band features vocalist/rhythm guitarist Andrew Reinhardt, Matty Klyne on lead guitar and vocals, Joey Andres on bass and Curtis Robb on drums. Eleven North is currently shooting the video for its second single called Words From the Wise. The video will be released in October and their debut full-length album will be out in December.
Next up was The Motorleague, from New Brunswick. Guitarist Nathan Jones, bassist Shawn Chiasson, drummer Francis Landry, and vocalist/guitarist Don Levandier have cemented their union and, subsequently, their status as a straight-up rock band, raw and raucous. This is one band I definitely hope to see more of in the near future!
Finally, The Lazys took stage. I have been hearing so much about this Australian band and, up until tonight, never had the chance to see them live for one reason or another. The Lazys, which calls Canada its second home, are a highly energetic rock band who not only put on a great performance but their music is loud, fun and captivating! They put on an excellent performance from start to finish!
The Lazys started out in Sydney, Australia in 2007 and currently features vocalist Leon Harrison, lead guitarist Mathew Morris, rhythm guitarist Liam Shearer, bassist Glenn Williams and drummer Andy Nielsen. The band’s latest single is Howling Woman, off their self-titled album.
The Lazys are a must see if you haven’t yet!
