(Toronto, ON) – Canadian synth-rock, electro-dance duo Dear Rouge, who released their major label debut album “Black To Gold” (Universal Music Canada), to critical acclaim earlier this year, announced today the #BlackToGoldTour that will see the band headline stages across Canada, the United States and Europe this fall. The group will kick things off on October 14th with a North American trek that includes stops in Calgary, Saskatoon, Winnipeg, Pittsburgh, New York, Halifax, Quebec City, Montreal, Ottawa, Toronto, St. Louis, Chicago, Vancouver and more before beginning the European leg on December 2 in Aachen, DE. Joining Dear Rouge on the road as special guests is indie-rock group RAH RAH.
Dear Rouge’s warranted leap towards success and critical acclaim comes following a seemingly non-stop summer itinerary that has seen the husband and wife team of Drew and Danielle McTaggart make multiple festival appearances including; stops at the much-anticipated WayHome Music & Arts Festival and the Squamish Valley Music Festival. Last month, Dear Rouge were named winners of the 2015 SOCAN Songwriting Prize for their hit single “I Heard I Had” – one of three singles including “Best Look Lately” and “Black To Gold” to soar to Top 3 at both alternative and modern rock radio.
As momentum grows domestically and internationally for the group, they continue to command attention from fans, critics and the industry alike, reaching over 3 million hits on Spotify and earning high praise for their top-notch, high energy performances and impressive set (Blog T.O.).
The group recently premiered the stunning performance video for “Tongues” on MUCH and MUCH.com, while ET Canada gave fans a glimpse behind-the-scenes – joining Dear Rouge ‘on set’ for the making of the video.
Named one of the 15 most anticipated Canadian indie albums of 2015 (CBC Music), “Black To Gold” is the realization of an artistic vision that spans more than two years in the making, helmed by Drew McTaggart and producer/engineer Ryan Worseley, with input and influence from Howard Redekopp (Tegan and Sara, Mother Mother) and Gavin Brown (Metric, Billy Talent).
With Danielle’s unmistakable powerhouse vocals punctuated by the groups’ instantly recognizable blend of dynamic guitar hooks and uplifting synth layers, “Black To Gold” showcases the development and maturation of the duo. There is no doubt that the #BlackToGoldTour will delight audiences around the world – further cementing Dear Rouge as one of the biggest breakout acts Canada has seen in the last 5 years.
“More and more pop artists are drawing from ’80s influences, but none make a better case for the trend than this Vancouver duo, whose erupting synths and charged vocals here will surely become a summer-soundtrack staple.” – USA TODAY
Noisey By Vice calls “Black To Gold”, “a gritty, razor-sharp synth-rock record full of arena-sized bangers, with glossed over, moody 80s-esque pop rollers and understated ballads peppered throughout.”
“The album boasts a synth-heavy brand of dance rock not dissimilar to the New Wave revivalists that made up nearly all of the most-worth-listening-to bands at the turn of the century, but with an extra dash of sweet and soulful sass” – Philthy Mag
“The band weaves together warm synths and sharp riffs to create super infectious songs led by charismatic lead singer Danielle McTaggart.” – MUCH.com
