April 3, 2025
On April 3, the Avalon Theatre was buzzing with energy as the Trans-Canada Highwaymen took the stage and delivered a night of pure Canadian rock nostalgia.
Comprised of Moe Berg (The Pursuit of Happiness), Chris Murphy (Sloan), Craig Northey (Odds), and Steven Page (formerly of Barenaked Ladies), this all-star lineup brought decades of musical history together in one unforgettable performance. Each member took turns in the spotlight, sharing stories behind the songs and trading harmonies with a camaraderie that felt both genuine and infectious.
The setlist was a love letter to Canadian music fans, packed with fan-favourites like “Hard to Laugh,” “Someone Who’s Cool,” “Underwhelmed,” and “It’s All Been Done.” They also paid homage to the legends who came before them with well-received covers like Michel Pagliaro’s “Lovin’ You Ain’t Easy,” Lighthouse’s “Pretty Lady,” and Andy Kim’s “Rock Me Gently.”
The Avalon Theatre proved to be the perfect venue—intimate, acoustically crisp, and visually stunning.
The Trans-Canada Highwaymen celebrated an era and for longtime fans of Canadian rock, this show was a time capsule that left many of the fans wanting more.
