Bad Company is returning to Artpark next Tuesday, August 20, as part of a small U.S. tour this summer. The band first played the Tuesday Night Concert Series on July 16, 2013.
Bad Company was formed in Westminster, London in 1973 by singer Paul Rodgers and guitarist Mick Ralphs later adding drummer Simon Kirke and bassist Boz Burrell. Peter Grant, who managed the rock band Led Zeppelin, also managed Bad Company until 1982.
Prior to forming Bad Company, Rodgers fronted the band Free who was best known for their hit All Right Now.
Bad Company enjoyed great success throughout the 1970s. Their first three albums, Bad Company (1974), Straight Shooter (1975), and Run with the Pack (1976), reached the top five in the album charts in both the UK and US. Many of their singles are still currently played on classic rock radio. They include Bad Company, Can’t Get Enough, Good Lovin’ Gone Bad, Feel Like Makin’ Love, Ready for Love, Shooting Star, and Rock ‘n’ Roll Fantasy.
Rodgers left Bad Company in the 80’s to pursue a solo career. He also also joined other bands including The Firm, The Law and Queen (they toured worldwide in 2005 and 2006). In 2009, Rodgers rejoined Bad Company.
The current line-up consists of Paul Rodgers (now a Canadian citizen), Simon Kirke, guitarist Howard Leese and bassist Todd Ronning.
Opening the show will be Rodgers’ son Steve Rodgers.
