British rock band Bush made a stop in Niagara Falls, Canada recently to play the Avalon Ballroom inside Fallsview Casino. The band, led by frontman Gavin Rossdale, played the venue as part of their solo tour and only Canadian stop. They finished up a summer tour last month with Stone Temple Pilots and The Cult having played nearby Toronto at the end of July.
But on October 3 it was Bush and 1500 or so fans for a more intimate show that had the crowd standing throughout most of the night from the time they came on stage until the end of the encore.
Bush (which also includes Chris Traynor on lead guitars, Corey Britz on bass and backing vocals and Robin Goodridge on drums) opened the show with Machinehead off their certified 6× multi-platinum debut album Sixteen Stone (1994) and followed that with two newer songs, Nurse and This Is War, off their latest album Black and White Rainbows released in 2017.
About a third of the show’s songs came off Sixteen Stone with at least one or two songs off each of the band’s seven studio albums. The main set ended with Little Things during which Rossdale ran through the crowd and up into the balcony hugging and hi-fiving fans and posing for selfies.
After a brief break off stage, Bush wasn’t finished yet and came out for a three-song encore with Come Together by The Beatles, Glycerine and Comedown.
Overall it was a great night. The band put on a fantastic performance and played all their hits that people know and love. I don’t think anyone walked away disappointed.
Watch for a new Bush album coming out in the near future.
