Multi-Platinum, award winning country music entertainer Tim Hicks had much to celebrate yesterday in Toronto as he picked up his second Platinum award for the North American viral smash Stronger Beer. During a surprise event held at Hicks’ original ‘Stompin’ Ground’ – Grace O’Malleys, fans, media and the industry celebrated Hicks as he received two Road Gold certifications from CIMA for 2015/16 and 2016/17, marking his road warrior status in addition to Platinum plaques for the break out hit Get By and the aforementioned fan favourite, Stronger Beer – a platinum selling song that was never released as an official radio single.
“For a song that was never a single, and never even supposed to be a song in the first place, this is absolutely incredible news,” shared Hicks. “I can’t thank my fans enough for making this happen. I’m humbled and honoured with a ‘u’.”
“Tim is the ultimate triple threat; he writes top 10 radio hits, achieves multiple gold and now platinum singles and sells concert tickets,” said Ron Kitchener, President of RGK Entertainment Group. “As his fan base continues to grow, I couldn’t be more excited for the future.”
Proven to have as much momentum as any Country artist in the business, Hicks has already earned five GOLD certified singles in addition to two JUNO Award nominations and the 2014 CCMA Award for Rising Star. His cumulative streams on Spotify add up to 7 million+ including 1.5 million for Stompin’ Ground, and last week, Hicks announced that his current single, Slide Over had broken the Top 10 at country radio, making it his tenth Top 10 to date.
Hicks shared, “thank you to country radio for playing Slide Over and making this happen! It’s no surprise that this song means a lot to me given the subject matter and why it was written, so that makes it so much sweeter!”
In May, the CCMA Award winner released his first live album aptly titled “Tim Hicks Live”, via Open Road Recordings. A determined road warrior known for his compelling stage presence, Hicks’ rapturously received live shows have become notable over the past few years. As he continues to grow in popularity, his stage prowess has played an important role in the development as one of Canadian Country music’s leading touring acts. Hicks the “elite Country music star” (GoBe Weekly), has made an impression on fans and critics alike, becoming a “household name” (Niagara Falls Review) and “one to watch” (Toronto Star), creating unforgettable moments for capacity crowds and getting audiences fired up with many declaring “his country-rock infused live show is one fans will be talking about long after the encore.” He marches to the beat of his own drum and mines that perspective on stage, building one of country music’s most loyal audiences show by show, and song by song.
Hicks’ Summer Tour continues to heat up with the announcement that he will join Dean Brody on August 24th in Toronto at the iconic Budweiser Stage. Hicks will also return to Ottawa Bluesfest on July 16th as direct support for Tom Petty and he will once again headline the annual Summer Throwdown concert celebrating Canada 150 this Saturday (July 1st) in Wasaga, ON. Notable dates throughout the summer include Dauphin Countryfest (June 30), Cavendish Beach Music Festival (July 9), Sunfest (August 5) and many more.
Announced last month, Hicks will bring the highly praised Shake These Walls Tour to Quebec for six headlining dates in January and February (2018). Throughout the month of January (2017), the tour played to thousands of fans, with Hicks delivering a raucous set night after night – igniting crowds from coast to coast with the “right kind of magic to bring fans back for another round” (Bucketlist).
