On September 17, We Love Fort Erie Night presented Honeymoon Suite, 2022 American Idol finalist Leah Marlene and Tragically Hip tribute band The Trip at the Fort Erie Erie Race track in Fort Erie, Ontario. The show, sponsored by Fort Erie Rona, was a fundraiser for COPE, Fort Erie’s local foodbank.
The response was fantastic and sold out before doors opened at 6:00 PM. The show got underway at 7:00 PM with Fort Erie’s own, The Trip, getting the crowd warmed up with a great set of Tragically Hip songs.
Leah Marlene went on next to perform an acoustic set of her own songs and songs she performed while on American Idol, including her own rendition of Journey‘s Separate Ways. Leah, who is the daughter of Honeymoon Suite guitarist Derry Grehan, was really grateful for being a part of the night and took notice of some fans wearing Leah Marlene t-shirts. At age 21, Leah has a great road ahead of her.
Around 9:30 PM, Honeymoon Suite closed the night with a show that never disappoints. This was sort of a homecoming show for Honeymoon Suite which formed in Niagara Falls in the early 80s. They played all their hits including New Girl Now, Burning In Love, What Does It Take, Wave Babies, and more!
