(Port Colborne, ON) – Canal Days is fast approaching next weekend and great music will be happening all weekend long featuring I Mother Earth, Junkhouse, Big Wreck, Step Echo, Chelsea Crites and more at the main stage in downtown Port Colborne’s market square. The annual festival happens July 31 to August 3.

Niagara’s own Step Echo kicks off the festival when they open for Junkhouse and I Mother Earth Friday night. The show will mark the debut for its newest member, singer Basia Lyjak. On July 16 an official announcement was made on BS Live Rocks that Lyjak is the new singer for Step Echo.

“I’m really excited to have joined forces with Step Echo,” says Lyjak. “It’s a pleasure to work with seasoned guys with big hearts who are just as passionate as I am about music!”

Friday night will be Lyjak’s first time singing in front of thousands of people, something she has only dreamed of until now.

“It’s been on my bucket list so I’m proud to say that I can scratch that off my list!” exclaims the Toronto singer. “It’s going to be amazing and I can’t wait for y’all to hear this new sound. We will be bringing it Friday night and (we are) excited to join I Mother Earth and Junkhouse to kick off Canal Days!”

Step Echo will be heading into the studio later this summer to record a new album.

Saturday night Canadian rockers Big Wreck headlines the main stage with Royal Tusk and Black Collar Union. The Friday and Saturday night shows begin at 8 p.m. Canadian country singer Chelsea Crites will make her hometown Canal Days debut Sunday afternoon.
