Led Zeppelin 2
Appalshop Theater
Whitesburg, Kentucky
February 15, 2018
The Appalshop Theater might be the best 200 seat or less theater in the region, maybe even the state. Literally not a bad seat in the house, freshly renovated with new seats and carpet Appalshop is a great place to watch a show!
Watching a show is exactly what’s going on tonight but let me add a mid-February night that found me sitting outside before the show wearing a short sleeve tee shirt. That’s crazy for this time of year but this is Kentucky, wait 15 minutes and the weather will change! The weather outside while nice was nothing compared to what was about to go on inside the theater.
What was about to happen inside was amazing. Led Zeppelin 2 brought the thrill of a Led Zeppelin show to a small theater in southeast Kentucky, if you weren’t there you really missed out! Also missing out on what could be the last “Evening with Concert Series” show presented by Greg Napier at the Appalshop Theater, but that’s a subject for another article. Tonight was about the magic that was and is the music of Led Zeppelin.
Led Zeppelin 2 knows how to convey that magic! These guys are not just your average tribute band; Bruce, Greg, Matthew and Paul have traveled the world playing the music of Led Zeppelin! Based out of Chicago, this quartet knows their stuff. From the opening notes to the very end of the show your eyes and ears are led on a journey of rock and roll history. The show is performed with no detail left to chance so the audience enjoys the ultimate live Led Zeppelin experience. Dazed and Confused, Stairway To Heaven, Kashmir and just about every other Led Zeppelin hit song was presented to perfection!
I really enjoyed photographing the show, looking thru the viewfinder with the music playing around me was like looking back in time. The lights, sound, smoke the entire vibe of the night was a step back to the 70’s. Go see these guys when you have a chance!
