Not only did multi-platinum award winning country star Tim Hicks ‘bring down the house’ with Dean Brody at Budweiser Stage in Toronto last Thursday night, he also announced the release of Forever Rebels – the fourth single from his top selling album Shake These Walls (Open Road Recordings/Universal Music Canada).
“Forever Rebels is an extremely personal song for me,” shares Hicks. “It’s about standing up in the face of adversity, and not being afraid to follow your own path even when everyone around you is telling you you’ll never get to where you’re going. I lived it, I felt it, and if I can convince one person to stay strong and follow their dreams, it will all be worth it.”
The infectious track follows Hicks highest charting single, Slide Over which topped the charts at #2 and comes on the heels of Hicks’ second PLATINUM certified award for the viral fan favourite Stronger Beer (his first was for break-out single Get By), in addition to five previous GOLD single certifications – proving once again that Hicks is by the very definition “a triple threat” – writing top 10 hits, achieving Gold and Platinum single certifications and selling concert tickets.
Having already scooped up the 2014 CCMA Rising Star Award as well as two JUNO Award nods, Hicks has proven he has as much momentum as any artist in the business with his latest CCMA Award nominations, including Male Artist of the Year and Interactive Artist of the Year. Hicks announced last week that he will take the stage at the 2017 CCMA Awards show in Saskatoon on September 10th, for an unforgettable night celebrating Canada’s biggest and brightest country music stars.
After an amazing summer spent tirelessly touring across the country, playing to capacity crowds, including a return to Ottawa Bluesfest as direct support for Tom Petty, a stop at Dauphin Countryfest, Cavendish Beach Music Festival and Sunfest, Hicks capped off the season with an incredible showing as direct support to Dean Brody at the iconic Budweiser Stage on August 24. The show saw Hicks bring his compelling stage presence and explosive energy to downtown Toronto, creating unforgettable moments for a country starved city and setting the bar for a memorable night.
Announced earlier this year, Hicks will bring the highly praised Shake These Walls Tour to Quebec for six headlining dates in January and February (2018) – igniting crowds from coast to coast with the “right kind of magic to bring fans back for another round” (Bucketlist).
