MusiCounts will honour acclaimed songwriter, musician, producer and multi-JUNO Award winner, Dallas Green (City and Colour, Alexisonfire, You+Me) with the 2022 MusiCounts Inspired Minds Ambassador Award, presented by CST Foundation. Green is being recognized for his philanthropic contributions to music education in Canada. Green’s philanthropy also extends to supporting Indigenous communities and low-income families. To honour his efforts, three schools that serve Indigenous communities or student populations facing socio-economic challenges will receive MusiCounts Band Aid Program grants in Green’s name.
“I am honoured to be able to support incredible organizations like MusiCounts who help to make music education accessible to youth across Canada,” said Dallas Green. “I recognize how lucky I am to make music for a living, and I’m really grateful to be in a position to give back and help shine a light on the wonderful work they do.”
Green’s lasting impact on MusiCounts was built through years of dedicated fundraising efforts across the country. He generously donated a dollar for every ticket sold on his 2017 and 2019 Canadian tour dates to MusiCounts, and gave a dollar for every sale of his 2018 record Guide Me Back Home, raising tens of thousands of dollars for the MusiCounts Band Aid Program. In 2018 Green also participated in a MusiCounts Band Aid Program event at Church Street Public School in Toronto to celebrate the musical instruments and equipment the school received. Green will be awarded The MusiCounts Inspired Minds Ambassador Award, presented by CST Foundation at the JUNO Opening Night Awards, presented by Ontario Creates on Saturday May 14, 2022.

The MusiCounts Inspired Minds Ambassador Award recognizes an individual who has had an extraordinary impact on music education and the charity over the course of its history. Each Award Recipient receives a JUNO statuette. Green is the sixth individual to be recognized with the award.

Outside of his unwavering support and involvement with the MusiCounts Band Aid Program, Dallas has shined a spotlight on charitable causes close to his heart throughout his career. In 2017, Dallas made the commitment to work closely with Plus1 to donate $1 from every ticket sold at each of his concerts worldwide. Throughout his career, he has supported organizations that bring awareness to mental health, women’s reproductive rights, LGBTQ+ communities, environmental initiatives including natural disaster relief across Canada, Australia and the US, the YWCA Rose Campaign, and more.
In 2019, Alexisonfire and City and Colour partnered with Indspire’s Building Brighter Futures Scholarship program establishing the City and Colour Indigenous Student Bursary and the Alexisonfire Indigenous Music Bursary, with the goal of supporting students as they complete their education and achieve academic success. To date Alexisonfire and City and Colour have donated over $120,000 combined. In 2020, along with his label Dine Alone Records and peers, Green hosted a music memorabilia raffle that raised over $175,000 for various Black Lives Matter organizations. More recently, he collaborated with Nick Nurse and the Nick Nurse Foundation which raises money and awareness for a series of programs that aid in the academic development of children and young adults while exposing students to Music, Sports and Literacy.
