Chin Injeti has used the power of music in his own life as a way to cope with seemingly insurmountable physical challenges, to deal with pain, heartache, but also to express joy, hope, optimism, and positivity.
He is also the sort of artist who loves to celebrate the music that played such a potent part of his early life, and which continues to fulfill and enrich his life and all the lives of those he touches with his melodic masterpieces.
Serious is the latest single from the prominent Vancouver-based songwriter/producer/vocalist. It’s a delightful homage to the sounds and sensibilities of the unique funk, soul and R&B stylings of the late 1970s and 1980s, particularly the work of The SOS Band and their producers, the inestimably influential Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, aka Flyte Time Productions.
“Serious is about not taking a brand new relationship so seriously. It’s about feeling good, dancing, and enjoying the moment,” said Injeti. “It was recorded and produced on analog gear to really stay true to the sound of
that era. It’s boogie, funk, and soul that will get you on your feet.”
As an artist, Injeti is best known as the co-founder of the Juno Award-winning innovative and ground-breaking Canadian pop/R&B group Bass is Base. However, his international acclaim as an in-demand producer and
songwriter rose to astronomical proportions for his work with the likes of Dr. Dre, Eminem, 50 Cent, Drake, Pink, K’Naan, LeCrae, J Cole, Anderson Paak, Aloe Blacc, just to name a few. Injeti’s work with Eminem and LeCrae
has garnered 3 Grammy Awards.
Born in India to a musical family and exposed to an impressive range of musical styles and genres, music became the best medicine for Injeti’s spirit as he battled childhood polio and its related health issues. Music became a bona fide healing force in his life and provided Injeti a purpose and a place to focus his energy in an eminently positive way.
