Next week’s Tuesdays In the Park concert at Artpark will feature the triple bill of Rick Springfield, Loverboy and Tommy Tutone. It will be the first time Springfield and Tommy Tutone plays Artpark and marks the return of Loverboy who played two summers ago on July 11, 2017.
For over four decades singer / actor Rick Springfield has entertained fans on stage and on screen. The Grammy Award winning singer has sold 25 million albums and has 17 Top 40 hits in the U.S., including Jessie’s Girl, Don’t Talk to Strangers, An Affair of the Heart, I’ve Done Everything for You, Love Somebody and Human Touch. Springfield is currently touring in support of his latest album Orchestrating My Life (April 2019)
Canada’s own Loverboy formed in 1979 in Calgary, Alberta and have become arena rock staples. They are still heard on many classic rock and classic hits radio stations across Canada and the United States. The band is best known for their hit singles Working for the Weekend and Turn Me Loose, although their U.S. Top Ten hits were Lovin’ Every Minute of It in 1985 and This Could Be the Night in 1986. The band won six Juno Awards in 1982 and has sold over 23 million records.
Since 1980, Loverboy has released nine studio albums, the last being Unfinished Business (2014). Loverboy‘s current line-up includes Mike Reno (lead vocals), Paul Dean (guitar, backing vocals), Doug Johnson (keyboards, backing vocals), Matt Frenette (drums) and Ken “Spider” Sinnaeve (bass, backing vocals).
Tommy Tutone was formed in 1978 by singer Tommy Heath and guitarist Jim Keller. Heath and Keller were the only constant members of Tommy Tutone during the band’s heyday, and the lineup featured a rotating membership of bassists and drummers. The current line-up consists of Heath, Jimmy James, Steve Fister and Andy Gauthier. The band has released five albums and had a number of singles including their best known hit 867-5309/Jenny Jenny and 2017’s My Little Red Book.
