RIVERFEST ELORA, nestled in the heart of the beautiful, picturesque village of Elora, Ontario along the Grand River, returned for its 13th year with a spectacular, annual music festival that spanned three days and with 47 bands on three stages.
The festival, which ran from Aug 18 to 20, featured amazing headliners, The Reklaws (Friday), Metric (Saturday) who last played RFE2023 in 2015, and Feist (Sunday). Each evening, after the festival gates closed, it was a short, couple of blocks walk over to Elora’s downtown venues, where the music continued at the RIVERFEST after-parties.
RIVERFEST ELORA festival manager Spencer Shewen estimated more than 5000 people each day attended this year’s event. Warm, summer weather satisfied those who came out to enjoy some great tunes at all three stages. There were plenty of local vendors to shop for unique items and craft wear, festival and band merchandise to purchase, including an array of diverse, and delicious food options to satisfy everyone.
As part of tradition, Peter Piper opened each festival day with the playing of the bagpipes. Friday started off the festival with performances by seven bands including THE REKLAWS, MATT MAYS, RENFORSHORT, SPOONS, SHRED KELLY, ADAM BALDWIN, and MYST MILANO.
Saturday boasted 13 bands including METRIC, JJ WILDE, TALK, RÊVE, MAESTRO FRESH WES, THE AGGROLITES, AVIV, BOOGEY THE BEAT, FAKE SHARK, CJ WILEY, VINCE THE MESSENGER, MICHAEL COSTANTINI and ANIMAL BOY.
Sunday finished off this outstanding festival with 13 bands that included: FEIST. CHARLOTTE CARDIN, SONREAL, LEIF VOLLEBEKK, BOSLEN, MOBLEY, KELLIE LODER, SEBASTIAN GASKIN, SKYE WALLACE, K-MAN & THE 45s, SHEBAD, ANNA PADDOCK & THE LAY AWAKES, and JIGGITY JAMES.
From the first chord of RIVERFEST ELORA to the last, every person had their hands in the air clapping and screaming for each and every word sung by every band that performed. Cheers and applause also echoed through the festival grounds for all of the hardworking volunteers who helped make this year’s RIVERFEST ELORA 2023 an incredible success, and one not to be missed next year at RFE2024.
