Sevendust with Madame Mayhem, Fire From The Gods and Memphis May Fire
Manchester Music Hall
Lexington, Kentucky
May 29, 2018
Manchester Music Hall knows what to do to fix the go-back-to-work-Tuesday blues after a long holiday weekend. You have a metal show with Sevendust headlining and three top notch bands in support! If you missed this show, I’m sorry! You missed a good one!
Madame Mayhem got this party started! Party they did! From the first note to the last Madame Mayhem didn’t let up. They got the big Manchester Music Hall crowd wound up and ready for the rest of the night!
Next up was Fire From The Gods. Listed a Metal/Hardcore band in their bio on Facebook and after hearing them I think that’s an accurate description! Playing songs from their debut album Narrative they continued what Madame Mayhem had started, had the crowd in Lexington fired up for what was still to come!
Memphis May Fire was one of the two bands to come and they didn’t let the Manchester Music Hall crowd take a break. Opening with a new song Virus then two more from the latest CD This Light I Hold the title track This Light I Hold and Carry On. MMF showed those in attendance why their last three albums have been top five albums on the rock charts! These guys from Nashville can bring it!
Sevendust, the reason we are here tonight, took the stage next. For whatever reason the AC isn’t working very well in the venue tonight so it is hot in here! It was about to get warmer! Sevendust has just released their 12th studio album All I See Is War on May 11 and they opened the show with Dirty – the first track off the new record. Followed by Ugly from 2005’s Next.
It was somewhere in here either between the first and second or the second and third song that LJ noticed a pregnant woman down front on the rail, he asked the security guys to bring her over the rail so she wouldn’t get pressed against it. LJ gave her a bottle of water and she stayed there for the rest of the show. A very classy act if I do say so myself, from all accounts all the guys in Sevendust are stand up guys.
Did I mention that it was hot? Well it was hot but that didn’t slow down anybody, Sevendust kept right on playing. Eventually someone got a big fan pointed at them, LJ thanked them! As I said they kept right on playing despite the heat Denial, Trust and Waffle along with Angle’s Son were some of the crowd favorites. I’m not sure I could have picked a favorite from the night but the encore songs Bitch and Face To Face would have come close to my picks.
All four of these bands brought the rock to Manchester Music Hall. If you’ve missed this tour you missed four bands on top of their games!
As always get out and support local and touring bands! Buy their music, buy their merch! Keep rock alive!
