Co-Headliners Stone Temple Pilots and +LIVE+ along with supporting act Soul Asylum brought the Jubilee Tour to Toronto’s Budweiser Stage this past weekend. Stone Temple Pilots are celebrating the 30th anniversary of their iconic album Purple. Joining in the festivities are +LIVE+ who as well are celebrating 30 years since their album Throwing Copper.
Grammy award-winning and multi-platinum selling rock band Soul Asylum hit the stage at 7pm sharp. Typically the crowds just start to trickle in while the openers go on, however there was a healthy attendance for Soul Asylum.
Most known for their mega hit Runaway Train, they performed an energetic 7 song set list of their popular hits. Including a new track called The only thing I’m Missing from their highly anticipated, soon to be released 13th studio album Slowly but Shirley.
The spirit emanating from the band really showed their love for performing in front of a crowd.
The energy in the venue was electric as the lights dimmed and the band took the stage for the highly anticipated +Live+ set. With a full crowd on hand, excitement filled the air, and soon enough, every fan was on their feet, ready to relive some of their favorite moments from a career that has spanned decades.
The band delivered an unforgettable 14-song set list featuring classic hits like Lightning Crashes, I Alone, All Over You, and Lakini’s Juice. Each note resonated deeply with long-time fans who sang along passionately, creating an atmosphere that felt both nostalgic and invigorating.
Adding to the magic of the evening were special guests Anthony and Peter—two dedicated fans who reached out via Instagram with a unique request: to perform alongside +Live+. Their dream came true when they joined +LIVE+ on stage for the song Dolphins Cry. It was a moment where fans became part of something greater, proving once again that live performances can create memories that last a lifetime.
Lead singer Ed Kowalczyk effortlessly engaged the crowd, pumping them up with his dynamic presence and passion for the music.
It was clear that +Live+ knows how to deliver an experience that resonates deeply with audiences. This performance wasn’t just another concert; it was a celebration of connection, nostalgia, and pure rock energy that left everyone buzzing long after the final note faded away.
Stone Temple Pilots delivered an unforgettable performance that left fans buzzing long after the final note. The band showcased a thrilling 15-song set list, featuring their iconic hits like Vasoline, Plush, and Interstate Love Song. Each song resonated with the audience, reminding everyone why these tracks have become timeless classics.
The night was made even more special with the appearance of talented guest musicians. Charlie Edward, a remarkable 20-year-old guitarist, joined the band to perform Still Remains, showcasing his impressive skills and bringing a fresh energy to the stage. Additionally, Steve Mazur from Our Lady Peace wowed the crowd with his rendition of Silver Gun Superman, adding yet another layer of excitement to an already electrifying evening.
Frontman Jeff Gutt, known for his standout performances on The X Factor in 2013, took fan engagement to new heights by walking the pit rail during the song Vasoline This personal connection allowed him to interact closely with fans who were thrilled by this opportunity. The atmosphere was electric as Gutt’s charisma shone through, making it clear that Stone Temple Pilots are not just about great music; they are also about creating memorable experiences for their devoted followers.
When it comes to rock music, few bands have left as indelible a mark as Stone Temple Pilots. The DeLeo brothers—Robert on bass and Dean on guitar—along with drummer Eric Kretz, remain the original members who have consistently delivered powerful performances and unforgettable melodies.
These seasoned musicians are not just surviving; they are thriving in an industry that often overlooks the value of experience. Their synergy on stage is palpable, showcasing their deep understanding of one another’s playing styles. The DeLeo brothers bring a unique blend of creativity and technical prowess, while Kretz’s drumming lays down a solid foundation that elevates every song.
If you haven’t yet experienced the magic of Stone Temple Pilots live or through their recordings, now is the time to dive into their rich catalog and witness why they continue to resonate with fans old and new alike.
