(Shakopee, MN) – The weather couldn’t have been any worse than it was for the 8th installment of Rhymesayers Entertainment’s Soundset Festival at Canterbury Park on Sunday May 24, 2015. But the constant rain didn’t stop 30,000+ hip hoppers from singing, dancing and having a great time at the best indie rap festival in the world.
This year’s sold out festival lineup included some of today’s biggest hip hop superstars including Big Sean, Ludacris, J. Cole and the legendary Ice Cube as well as some of the best independent hip hop artists in the industry (Atmosphere, Dessa, Yelawolf and more.)
All in all, Soundset delivered over 40 artists performing nine hours of diverse music and entertainment. The artists performed alternating sets on two side-by-side main stages hosted by MTV’s Sway Calloway. Some of the other artists performed on the Fifth Element stage plus the Essential Elements tent had DJ’s spinning the wheels and also featured the 2nd annual Freestyle Session Minnesota B-Boy B-Girl competition. Other forms of entertainment were Ironlak & The Seventh Letter who presented this year’s graffiti showcase, bringing some of the world’s most talented visual artists featuring live painting by Ewok, Sever, Vizie, Much, Nmph, Hope4 & Rive.
In addition to the 5th annual Skateboard Showdown presented by Familia and the 8th annual Soundset Custom Car Show, there were plenty of booths to get a variety of foods and drinks.
The staff were on top of their game all day lead by Anne Jojo who was very helpful to the media throughout the day. We just can’t wait for what Soundset 2016 has in store at its new location, the Minnesota State Fair.
