Monday was a good night to be a fan of metal in the Tri-Cities area, who am I kidding… Monday was a good night to be a metal head!! Because Trivium, Fit For an Autopsy and Band Omens were about to shake the foundation of Capone’s and for that matter all the buildings along east Main Street! The sold out crowd was ready to get this show started!

Bad Omens was first to make an offering to this Johnson City crowd. Judging by the reaction I witnessed the offering was accepted! Bad Omens is a relatively new band, formed in 2015 but already making people take notice in the metal world. Especially with their hit single The Worst Of Me quickly gaining attention, the video has almost five million views on YouTube since its release in May of 2016. Their debut self-titled album was released in August of 2016 and tonight’s set list included the first three singles from that album, the aforementioned The Worst of Me along with Glass Houses and Exit Wounds. If what I saw and heard is any indication Bad Omens will be gaining fans every show they play!

Fit For An Autopsy was next up. I’d be lying if I said I was familiar with these guys, other than some pre-show research I hadn’t heard of them. Judging by the crowd reaction and the reaction of the curly headed photographer in the pit with me I was in the minority not knowing about Fit For An Autopsy! With two EP’s and four albums under their belts these guys have been making hard and heavy music for almost a decade. Performing tracks like Black Mammoth, The Jackal and Heads Will Hang it safe to say I know about them now!

After two killer bands the sold out crowd at Capone’s was more than ready for tonight’s headliner – Trivium! Matt, Corey, Paolo and Alex were about to deliver a 13 song set plus a three song encore to this crazed crowd.

Starting the night off with title track off of 2017’s The Sin and the Sentence I could feel the barrier I was sitting on in the photo pit moving and someone’s hair behind me was hitting me as they rocked out, so I knew things were heating up the crowd.

Song number two was Throes of Perdition from 2008’s release Shogun near the end of the song Capone’s staff erred on the side of caution and removed the photographers from the pit, which was okay with me. If you’ve ever seen the pit at Capone’s it’s not very big and if someone came over the rail crowd surfing with all the photographers in there it wouldn’t have been pretty. With that being said Trivium killed the rest of the show with songs from all over the discography from 2005’s Ascendancy Drowned and Torn Asunder, 2011’s In Waves Inception of the End and their first top ten hit Until the World Goes Cold from 2015’s Silence in the Snow. Trivium left Johnson City and everyone in attendance glad that they came out on a Monday night for a metal show!

Get out and see a show, buy some merch. Support these bands but not just these three bands but your local bands as well. Every touring band started as a local band somewhere and the had local support.
