The Casino Rama Resort in Orillia, Ontario, was the place to be on October 7, 2023, as three iconic 80s hair metal bands took the stage for an unforgettable concert experience.
Warrant headlined the show, with supporting acts Quiet Riot and Helix joining forces to deliver a night of pure rock and roll energy.
Helix kicked off the evening with a bang, treating the crowd to a set filled with their signature hits. From Wild in the Streets, Deep Cuts the Knife, and the cover of Gimme Gimme Good Loving from the Crazy Elephants. As the night progressed, Helix saved one of their most beloved songs for last – Rock You. The energy in the venue was palpable as fans enthusiastically participated in every word of this iconic track. No one in the crowd could contain their need to shout R-O-C-K…
Led by singer Brian Vollmer, who is the sole original member of the band, Helix showcased their years of experience and dedication to their craft. Alongside Vollmer, long-time member bassist Daryl Gray added a solid foundation to the music, while guitarist Chris Julke brought his own unique flair to the mix. The newer members guitarist Mark Chichkan and drummer Jamie Constant perfectly complemented the established sound with their own skills and contributions.
The audience could feel the passion emanating from each member of Helix as they performed. Their love for what they do was palpable, creating an electric atmosphere that resonated with everyone in attendance. It was clear that Helix wasn’t just going through the motions – they were truly enjoying every moment on stage.
Overall, Helix‘s performance was a testament to their enduring talent and ability to captivate audiences. With their energetic stage presence and unwavering passion for music, they left a lasting impression on all those fortunate enough to witness their performance.
Next up, Quiet Riot took the stage. This legendary rock band continues to captivate audiences with their iconic sound and unforgettable stage presence. Quiet Riot has maintained their signature style and consistently delivers an unforgettable experience for both longtime and new fans.
Quiet Riot performed a 7-song setlist accompanied by an amazing guitar solo. As the show reached its climax, they played their iconic hit Metal Health (Bang Your Head), a true anthem that will have you headbanging and singing along at the top of your lungs. But that’s not all that makes this performance special. An iconic metal mask hung off the speaker, symbolizing the band’s enduring legacy and commitment to delivering pure metal madness.
The band’s longest-standing member, bassist Rudy Sarzo, proved that age is just a number. At 72 years old, Sarzo brought an incredible amount of energy to the stage, leaving the audience in awe. With a huge smile on his face, he played his bass in an unconventional manner, often holding it over his head and showcasing fretwork upside down. Not only did he display exceptional skill, but he also added an element of showmanship by banging the body of his bass to the beat.
Singer Jizzy Pearl lived up to the legacy of Quiet Riot, staying true to the original recordings and delivering a powerful performance. His vocals were spot-on and captivating, capturing the essence of the band’s sound. Pearl’s talent and stage presence added an extra dynamic to the overall experience.
So, if you’re craving a dose of pure metal madness and want to witness a performance that will leave you breathless, don’t miss out on seeing Quiet Riot live. They may have undergone changes over time, but their commitment to rocking your world remains unwavering.
