Here we go again! On June 28th Artpark welcomes Whitesnake as part of the popular Tuesday night summer concert series when The Greatest Hits Tour 2016 makes a stop at Artpark in Lewiston, NY with special guests Whitford/St. Holmes.
Whitesnake was formed in 1978 by vocalist David Coverdale after departing Deep Purple. Throughout the eighties Whitesnake found commercial success when they released a string of UK top 10 albums, Ready an’ Willing (1980), Come an’ Get It (1981), Saints & Sinners (1982) and Slide It In (1984), the last of which was their first to chart in the US and is certified two times platinum.
In 1987, Whitesnake released their self-titled album which became their most successful commercial album worldwide, and
contained two major US hits, Here I Go Again and Is This Love, reaching number one and two on the Billboard Hot 100. The album went 8 times platinum in the US and the band’s success saw them nominated for the 1988 Brit Award for Best British Group. Slip of the Tongue (1989), was also a success, reaching the top 10 in the UK and the US, and received a platinum US certification. The band split up shortly after this release, but had a reunion in 1994, and released a one-off studio album, Restless Heart (1997).
Whitesnake officially reformed in 2002 and have been touring together ever since, releasing three studio albums, Good to Be Bad (2008), Forevermore (2011) and The Purple Album (2015). In 2005, Whitesnake was named the 85th greatest hard rock band of all time by VH1.
Earlier this year David Coverdale, along with Deep Purple, was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
Whitford/St. Holmes:
After selling tens of millions of records around the world with Aerosmith and Ted Nugent, Brad Whitford and Derek St. Holmes have reunited for their second record (called Reunion, released earlier this month) and world tour. The first single off the album is called Shapes. Whitford/St. Holmes’ self-titled debut received strong radio play as well as critical reviews followed by a very successful run of US dates. However, shortly after its release their respective camps reunited and those schedules simply did not allow for a follow up…until now!
Don’t miss Whitesnake and Whitford/St. Holmes on June 28th!
